About

Austin Miller is an indie rocker hailing from God’s favorite concrete jungle; Houston Texas. He suffers from a serious case of wishing he was born 10 years earlier; wishing to harken back to the late 90s north easetern rock scene while simultaneously bringing his own modern flare to production and instrumentation. Addicted to bringing atmosphere into his music, Austin has synthesized the tight guitar work of acts like The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys with Shoegaze and Noise Rock legends like Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, and Sonic Youth. Lyrically, he melds Gen-Z melodrama with indie sleaze, and adds just a touch of depression to really let you know he’s a 2000s kid.

Austin was primarily focused on musical theater throughout his adolescence. But, between playing prominent parts in numerous musicals in school, he was taking deep dives into Arctic Monkeys, John Mayer, Car Seat Headrest, Wallows, Snail Mail, and many, many others. After seeing family friend Mary Sarah get to the top 8 of The Voice season 10, Austin's mindset toward music changed, he wondered if he could make his own.

He got an electric guitar in his sophomore year of high school, and quickly gained an affinity for the instrument. Is This It by The Strokes practically taught Austin how to play the guitar, and naturally it impacted his own style of playing; looping chord progressions and riffs and adding different supplemental parts to improvise makeshift melodies over; his individual, intuitive style of playing and writing lead to an obsession and thoughts of a career.

Austin is currently attending Belmont University, gaining a commercial music degree as a vocalist. In his 4 years at Belmont, he has supported several groups as a guitar player and vocalist, and performed in many writers nights around Nashville on his own. Some specific examples include Austin's with Belmont's premier pop/rock ensemble PHNX and recording with recording artist Kalea Jordan. He is also studying with professional voice coach and music industry veteran James Wigginton.

Now, after 6 years of honing his songwriting skills and 100+ songs written, Austin is weeding out the bunch to record his debut EP “Life & Times”. After assembling a band, he is heading to the studio to record the most personal body of work he has taken part in thus far in his career. Intensely ambitious with his compositions, combining guitars, synths, layered harmonies, and fierce drums, Austin’s music has a kinetic energy and an atmosphere that is unmatched by his peers.
